Hi guys, been a member on here for a few years but never really got involved too much other than looking through some great build threads.

Though it was about time i showed some pics of my M3.

Bought off here around eight months ago, i'm really pleased with what a great car it is.

I was after an E46 M3 but my mrs insisted on 4 doors for a family car. I was close to buying an S4 then saw this

I went to view the car and with only 60K miles and lots of paperwork i was taken foe a brief drive.

All seemed in order so after a bit of the usual arm twisting a deal was struck.

The car was awesome and mechanically great just in need of a little freshen up. famous last words!

After nearly every external trim, seal, rubber and gasket was purchased and full paint minus the roof she started to fit in more with my vision.

The daytona voilet really pops when is clean and fresh. Also removing the sagging rear spoiler was one of the best things i did to the car in my opinion.

Enough babbling some pics

Fresh off the gun

C&C welcomed

Nice car. I've a real soft spot for the E36 M3. I had one for 3 years and still love the shape. The spoilers do look fairly poor I agree.

Is it your daily driver?

It was bought to be my daily driver.

Shortly after the car was back together we (family of 4) did a 1700 mile round trip down to the south of france in it and loved every mile of it.

I'm a little too fond of it now to use all the time and park in train station carparks (working in london most of the time) so have a golf v6 4 motion for daily duties.

Its nice to have in the garage and use sparingly, feels like a treat to go for a blast now and again and on weekends.

Have looked at a couple of 3.0 to use for daily duties but still hankering for an E46 M3

Yes mate, lovely car.

It was seeing yours that made me start this thread smile

I'm on the look out for some contours but the original wheels are actually those in the PH photos.
The car is a SA spsc, one of the last from 1998 and the SA cars came with staggered forged motorsports apparently.

I love the sunflowers but definately want a set of contours to alternate the OEM look

Nice car!

I have a South African Evo Saloon as well. Great to see another! smile

They came with staggered polished motorsports originally. They're a lovely wheel when in good condition.

Yours should have the GT front splitter and a few other bits.

Do you have any more history on the car?

Here's some info on the SA spec from the BMW M Registry

"The South African-spec E36 M3 sedans are essentially identical to the European-spec version but utilize a low-compression version of the S50 B32 engine designed for low-octane South African fuel that produces slightly less power and torque (see Drivetrain below). In addition, SA-spec E36 M3 sedans were offered in a slightly different selection of exterior colors and were equipped with a large array of standard equipment, including: extended Nappa leather upholstery, forged M Double Spoke alloy wheels, M3 GT-style front "splitters", power sunroof, power front seats, rear sunshade, automatic climate control, cruise control and the on-board computer."

"Due to low-octane fuel requirements, the S50 B32 motors produced for South Africa utilize different pistons which result in a reduced compression ratio of 10.5:1. These engines produce 310 hp (DIN) at 7,400 rpm and 251 lb/ft of torque at 3,250 rpm."

I read up on that info from the M registry before i viewed it.

The only thing mine no longer has are the gt corner splitters which does not surprise me that much as the stock evo splitter gets battered enough.

Heard mixed things on whether they actually run different pistons though

I'll have to register to view that link, unless you can show the pic?

Yes. Definitely worth registering. Lots of brill owners journals on there and lots of parts for sale.

I prefer oem too but I don't think its that easy to fo it a bigger brake kit with the 17s. This is something I might want to do later. Going to just do pads and braided lines initially. The company who are going to be upgrading my car JWA racing (they rebuild classic cars, race formula renault and gt lemans cars etc) that by doing this and adding some bespoke cooling to the calliper I should be ok on track.

First of all I'm refreshing dampers, springs bushes and then doing ARP bolts, shells and improved oil feed by fitting evo sump and pump.
