Just to say having bought another E46 M3 this time a CS manual grey with red leather is quite a delicious bit of kit. The sharper steering and brakes make all the difference. Still not an E39 M5, but a close second in the hall of fame of M cars....also ice and snow can go fvck themselves.... wink

Love that, what a great pickup. One I will consider in the future and finding one in such a nice colour/trim combo and a manual is a rare combo.

Lovely car, looks very clean.

The sharper rack is great to have and CSL wheels look good too!

Im not sure about that spoiler though.

One of my favourite combos. I'd lose the spoiler tho. Maybe stick a csl bootlid on it?

As someone who is new to E 46 M3s, I wasn't aware that a CS version was built.
How does it differ to the standard M3 ?
What years was it produced ?
Any lighter than the standard car ?

Its a half way point between the standard e46 and the CSL. Has the CSL steering rack and brake setup, and it comes with the option of a manual gearbox too. As far as I know its not any lighter than the standard M.

Whilst I've never owned a Csl I have driven a few and owned a Cs and standard e46 M3's. I'd humbly suggest that the Cs is not a halfway point. It's far nearer the standard M3 than the Csl.
It's a lovely car, the Cs, my favourite of all the M cars I've had. The Csl parts make it just that little bit more special than the standard car, like the cherry on top of a very good cake.

But if you sort of stand back and squint, it being grey and all that, it sort of looks like a CSL

I reckon 99% of the population would struggle to tell the difference between a standard M, CS or CSL to be fair. I went to quite a few trackdays last year and apart from an M3 targeted one, where admittedly everybody was swooning over all the CSLs, most of the pit lane aren't really that bothered. To be fair, generally there's so many cars that have so much more appeal.

OP, your car looks stunning mate, good colour combo too. I think I agree with the couple of comments about the spoiler though.

Yeh, bad wording on my behalf there. I know it isnt bang on half way between the two models but at the time it seemed a good way of explaining it to someone who didnt know what the car was about at all. The price difference between the three models goes some way to explaining how different they all are (CSL obviously being by far the most extreme).

Mine has been mistaken for a standard BMW plenty of times. All that is plainly obvious are the wheels..

Very easy to get E46 M3 Coupe and E46 M3 CS Coupe confused because a lot of M3 owners have the wheels on nowdays .... Only more likely give away apart from looking at the interior for steering wheel and handbrake are the paint if IB or the reg plate should be 54 Plate to 56 Plate but reg plate won't automatically mean is a M3 CS
