Congratulations. Will be getting one from my local dealer for an extended test soon, so looking forward to see how it compares to my E46 M3 and 130i. Been told by a few people the car is pretty special and one of the best BMWs made in recent time. Sytner Sunningdale have some kind of special event on this weekend. Some cracking deals and finance rates. They have a lovely black M135i in the showroom.

Why are they called M135i, and not M1 - following previous naming convention? Is this a true M car, or do they make a 135i also?
Thanks guys, sorry if this is a silly question!
It's part of the "new M sub-brand", so not a full-on M car, yet above a normal 1 series. I was sceptical when first-announced, however given the rave reviews the m135i has received i'd love to try one. Look forward to seeing pics of yours OP Thanks guys, sorry if this is a silly question!

This helps to explain how much M Division involvement there is.

The special M135i specific michelin tyres are mentioned quite a lot by the BMW man, the whole design of the suspension and the way the car drives seems to rely on them being fitted.
It will be interesting to see how long they last (well under 10k like M3 ones maybe?) and also their availability and cost come renewal. The inference is no other tyres are approved for use........

The tyres are the Michelin Super Sports. Per 'Event Tyres' they are £183 per tyre for the rear and £150 ish for the front for the BMW approved version. As non run flats, not as expensive as you may think for what is one of the best tyres on the market. As for wear, fronts should last forever (did 25,000 miles on a set of PS2's on my old Z4M) rears could be an issue given the torque though - rears on my Z4M lasted about 10k with a mix of motorways and some very spirited driving. the Supersports are meant to be 50% better on track compared with the PS2's, so fingers staying firmly crossed the torque doesn't rip them to shreds. However, even if they do get shredded quickly, at least it would have been fun!

Did you pay for the Loudspeaker Upgrade?
I've noticed in the paper 2013 price list it's listed as "Standard" on the M135i (on the web its a paid add-on). I'm currently talking to my dealer to get it added at no cost. I know they were offering it for free up until November (i think around then anyway)
I ordered mine a couple of weeks back. Looking to have end of March build (hoping to bring that forward)

IIRC the loudspeaker upgrade was a 3rd quarter 2012 special offer.I've noticed in the paper 2013 price list it's listed as "Standard" on the M135i (on the web its a paid add-on). The base price went up £500 in the final quarter but you now get DAB radio and something else as standard
