Hi all,

I'm very excited having just put a deposit down on an AUC Z4M Roadster yesterday.

Link to the car is here......

http://www.bmwauc.com/AUC/WBSBT92080LD3 ... gi-pdf.pdf

The test drive was good fun yesterday despite the heavy rain / sleet in the Norwich area! What a noise these things make with the roof off!

I'm very looking forward to delivery later in the week and hopefully seeing a few of you at Silverstone with it in 2 weeks.

Ben.

Hopefully this will work now but Titanium with black - not very exciting but I've bought it for the engine so I'm quite happy!

I have found living with mine even better than the test drives i had.

They also sound even better with an aftermarket x-pipe and rear boxes (i have a H&S system on mine) I should also be at Silverstone in a few weeks smile

Nearly 3 years with mine and it still has me giggling like a schoolgirl..... they are an acquired taste, but if you are one of the people that "gets" them you will love it.

Thanks guys. I seem to be spending more time on the Z4-forum now than PH!

I'm very much looking forward to my 140 mile drive back from the dealership on Friday - top down all the way!

Enjoy it. I think one of my favourite things about the car is the noise when you're doing something as simple as meandering away from some lights as it goes past 2.5krpm or so, it's like a little warble. smile

Coming up to 3 years of ownership with mine as well, absolutely love it.
Honestly cant think what i could afford that would give the same sort of performance and reliability.

Takes a wee while to fully appreciate and get dialled into but well worth percevering.

On topic; Welcome to the club - it's a great club to be part of, all the owners are a nice bunch!

Off topic; I have started a thread on the Z4-forum under meets and events for whoever is going to PHSS and might try to arrange a little convoy if anyone is going from the same area as me.

Congrats again.

Well it hasn't stopped raining or snowing since I picked it up on Friday afternoon so no pictures as yet.

Loving the engine and have been very surprised how well it can put the power down on a wet road!

Fingers crossed for some dry weather soon.

How does it compare to the Elise?
I'm looking at these after my S2 Honda'd Elise as an everyday car?

It's been a long time since the Elise but from what I can tell so far it's a completely different car. Far more refined, and obviously a lot quicker. It does feel like a really comfortable GT-type car but with an incredible engine!

Although I say refined, that is compared to an Elise as compared to most cars and my current Gold GTI it is very raw with the engine sounding every bit as good as I hoped.

Handling wise I really couldn't comment yet but you certainly don't get the steering feel of the Elise.

Having owned an S1 already I wanted something very different and the Z4M is certainly that. Whether it is more enjoyable is debateable but it's so much more usable.

I think you would love it.

I've owned 3 Elises & 3 Z4's (2 Z4M's) and they are two of the only cars I have missed when sold and hankered after another.

The Elise for me was perfect for corners but as an everyday car and the hassle of the roof it began to wear thin after a while especially trying to get in and out whilst wearing a suit.

The Z4M is dominated by the engine - it is simply sublime - you have to drive it very different to the Elise and show it more respect in the corners especially after coming from a Lotus but it makes a fantastic A/B road blaster.

The toys are a joy such as heated seats and the logic 7 stereo make it comfortable all year round and with the roof going up and down in 9 seconds means it spends more of its time down than the Lortus did.

For me, it is the perfect car for my needs and at the prices they are there is very little that comes close IMO.
