AUC - BMW M6 - Pre-Purchase Concerns
Discussion
Hi all,
About to buy my second M6 (I have a soft spot for these things!!)
I am buying the car from a BMW main dealer and its done 74k miles, the colour and spec is nice albeit the madeira wood trim is being replaced once I collect.
Ive done a service history check on the car and its never had a clutch and flywheel replacement, now being a previous owner I know the concerns and grey areas this causes.
I went to view the car yesterday and we did a small snagging list of all the little areas of prep work I wanted addressing before I collect. After speaking to the sales chap and the sales manager it appears they will cover the car under "clutch failure or excess wear" as it has 12 months BMW warranty as part of the sale.
My concern lies whereby, if the clutch goes bang on me and I take it to BMW, I dont want them turning round and saying to me that its done 70 odd thousand miles and its to be expected, then im lumbered with the bill.
The warranty wouldn't cover the clutch and flywheel should it wear naturally and just need replacing but WOULD cover it if it has excessive wear or a fault..
Any suggestions with how to approach this, as ive become increasingly wary that this car with 74k miles on the clock hasnt yet had a clutch and flywheel.
Hope to hear some good answers, thanks chaps!

Would it not make financial sense (unless you really got a great price) to go for an AUC with under 60K to allow you to take out the monthly £90 warranty?
And as for a 74K clutch, if it is really the original one, I would think that it is very near replacement so would want some cast iron guarantee that the dealer would honour its replacement, or let the price reflect this to the tune of at least £2K off.
