E92 M3 Competition or early M3 with Schnitzer Upgrades

Thinking of taking the plunge on an M3.
Was considering M135 after seeing Mr Harris's video review.They seem good value new.
Another option was B7 RS4...a nice package for all weather but I like trackdays which they are probably not quite as good as the M3 unless there is oppinion to the contrary....all weather capability I accept but they also seem to be plagued with carbon build up and DRC issues.
So my other plan was either a Competion M3 which seem to be hoovering at £38-40K which seems quite a bit over standard spec.
So would it be more prudent to go for a low mileage 2007 car where I have seen some for as little as £20 -£23k and adding some decent suspension and a brake upgrade for track....I was thinking of a set of AP's and some KW Clubsports?
Schnitzer seems very individual, rare and can be bonus on residuals?
Anyone can advise on this and give any observations on the RS4.
