Morning all, I've been on here a while but only usually read and drool over the classifieds. I'm after a new car, is the owner of the above car is here on PH? BMW E30 Evo in Black E279 LAN. I saw it drifting last year at the Pod and only saw the plate at the end of the day. Meant to go and chat to the owner but had problems with my car all day and wanted to get moving so couldn't stop.

He was giving that M3 a pasting, sounded superb. Good times! Think I might of seen him up there again but the plate was covered over.

Wondered if he was local to Santa Pod and if it is for sale? Quite fancy an E30 drifter and finally have a bit of cash.

Hmmm I use to own E279 LAN, god I miss her. Not an EVO though but did have an EVO 2 lower lip spoiler last time I saw her and a nasty set of big split rims.

Got any pictures?

The car belongs to a friend of a friend. I'll see if I can point the owner in the direction of this thread.

I was the first UK owner, really solid genuine car. Sold because I wasn't using her regretted from the moment it left my driveway.

Would be good to hear from its current owner, is it still the guy that drives at Mercedes World?

hmmm why would you want an e30 m3 as a drift car? a bit of a waist of cash and a car to be honest. the 200 bhp are way too less and the e30 chassy is a bit snappy.

if you really want an e30 drifter get a good shell, put a v8 (m60b40) and fit an m3 body conversion to it. it will still be a fraction of the cost and in case you crash reshelling would be easy and you will not destroy a unique car.

Hi OP, owner here. Popped up to 'the pod' with some friends late last year a couple of times; lots of fun. It did cause quite a stir up there, many couldn't believe there was a proper s14 doing skids. The sound is something else, although tracking it is a problem @106db.

The car itself has had an engine rebuild so there is around 200lb/ft to play with, and on 15/16'' part worns there is plenty of movement. They are very light at 1100kg's and in transition they are totally progressive and very neutral, although the rack is quite slow. I agree that that they are plenty of other cars better suited in terms of bang for buck, in the same way I can also understand why people think it's absolute sacrilege to go drifting in an original M3.

@Hoonabator; I heard from Mark at MJF that you had seen the car. You kept the car really well; underside is really solid and the last guy that had it up on a ramp was very complimentary.

It really is a labour of love, the last 5 years have been incredible from an ownership perspective. Incredible fun and incredible £.

Le Mans Classic run with some Group 5 inspiration;

And as it stands today;

Hi chap, fantastic to see the old girl being used. I done Spa GP once and Le Mans 24hrs three times in her. Only time she let me down was a minor thing 200 yards from Mark at MJF biggrin

Worse car thing I ever done was sell that car...... So if you ever want to sell..... But saying that I couldn't afford to buy her back now as values have gone mad.

Anyway as I said great to her she's in good hands.

Oh and it took me ages to find a proper set of 16" cross spoke rims and they've gone!!!! Even gave the chap who bought it from me the 15" originals.

Couple more pictures
