Hi all,

I've had a look on search so if this has been answered already sorry in advance - new round here!

I'm looking for an E90 M3 with DCT. Four doors with the dual clutch box. My other half hates manual gearboxes so it's got to be a DCT. She won't drive my car so I'm compromising!

Does the DCT box exhibit any quirks or have an expected lifespan for the two clutches? What does a new clutch pair cost? Is there a way to interrogate the ECU to find out the clutch wear?

I am in Australia so I'm not aware of any independent garages that have the correct systems to interrogate the ECU to ask the system. Hence I'd like to know enough to tell the selling dealer what to check rather than being fobbed off with salesman BS.

I know that other cars with computerised gearboxes (Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin V8V) have a way to find out clutch wear without manually taking the gearbox out of the car.

Any optional extras that are really worth having?

Apart from crappy gas mileage, anything else to consider?

Cheers!
