2008 E93 Ipod Connection

I'm giving serious thought to buying a low mileage 2008 E93.
I've checked the specification with BMW and it's been optioned with USB audio interface and Bluetooth telephone prep amongst others.

With this specification am I right in saying that I can plug iPod into a socket in the armrest and control it using the i-drive?
If so are there any particular cables required or is it just straightforward stuff?

Also is it feasible to use Bluetooth audio or is that just something way to high-tech for a car of this age?

You need a cable from BMW and the ipod will work through the iDrive. Streaming audio through bluetooth will not work.

I'm assuming that the Y-cable? frustratingly I had one for my last Z4, but it was a 2011 model year and turned out that the standard iPod cable worked perfectly with it so it never got used but sold with the car....
