Having just taken ownership of a very heavily specced F10 M5, I am looking for a recommended dealership that has some decent experience and a proper track record with servicing M cars.

I realise that all dealerships 'apparently' operate to the same knowledge and technical levels, but without a doubt there will be certain outlets that have a greater knowledge and understanding, not just of the M car itself, but of the kind of owner and sympathise/understand that owner's 'aspirations' for proper attention, real product knowledge and quality of service.

When I had my CSL and Z4M Coupe back in the mid 00's, I always took them to Murkett's in Huntingdon, where the late, great Andy Pressland was by far the best service manager I had ever come across. His 'package' for M and the more ' specialist' owner was the best I had ever experienced and now, with an inclusive service package on the M5, I'm looking to find something similar, as both BMW Murketts and Andy himself (RIP) are no more.

Any suggestions and positive experiences would be gratefully received. I am off J8 of the M11 30 miles north of London, but prepared to travel up to say 100 mile radius and wait while the car is done, IF I can be convinced I'm going to get the best attention for my £100k car.

Many thanks in advance smile

I have heard that many of the Murkett's people ended up at Elms in Cambridge.

Elms Cambridge, quite a few of the CSLregister people shifted from Murketts there and at least one of the techs is ex Murketts.

Park Lane's place at Battersea- owned by BMW and do a great job - ask for James. No stitch up on pricing either.

~Elms in Cambridge looks favorite then. Does anyone have a name they recommend I should speak with prior to booking in?

Dick Lovett in Hungerford for sure. They have looked after mine so well in the last year that I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Spoke to Emma at Elms Cambridge yesterday, she confirmed the old Murketts connection (Adrian(?) the M technician moved to them when Murketts ceased being a BMW dealership).

Feels right, Emma knew her stuff, there's a clear track record with some customers bringing their cars for servicing from as far afield as Cornwall apparently. Adrian will want to talk to me before and after the service, so all in all sounds very positive.

Of course the proof will be in the eating - car's booked in for next week, will report back then.

Thanks again for input given. smile
