M5 Cluster main beam always illuminated
Discussion
Hey Guys, need your help please,
BMW E39, 2003 M5.
has anyone ever seen this before .... my main beam light on my instrument cluster is always illuminated.

The car is stored over each winter, has very low milage, however about a week ago when I re connected the new battery, this light is always illuminated on the instrument cluster. I've checked the voltage coming from the battery and all is fine. at first I thought it may be damp on the back of the cluster, but now, after the car has been warmed up, the light is not going out. It glows faintly, and upon pulling the main beam, the symbol glows brighter as normal, let the stalk go, and the faint glow return. everything else works fine.
Can anyone suggest things to check, to see if I can get this to go out and work normally?
Cheers
Chris

There's a chance it might reset it, but it could also be handy and point out any other issues, such as blown lights or other malfunctions.
If that doesn't show up anything, it leaves two options, a wiring or ground problem somewhere, try things like unplugging the headlight connectors and see if the light goes off, or there is an internal fault with the cluster.
