Hi,

Just wondering what you think of this E46.

I still love the look of these things and I'm trying to convince young Elaine to get one, instead of going down the new GTi route.

Is it £5K too much?

Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.

It's over priced, but not to the tune of £5K. It's done 37K miles, has a good spec and is a AUC car so come with a belt and braces warranty.

Will she like the SMG ? The auto mode is garbage and the bunny hopping when it's cold is an acquired taste. I loved mine always drove it in manual, as long as you fethered the throttle it was great.

SMG would not be a problem, as she sampled that in my E60.....mind you, SMGIII is quite a bit better than SMGII from what I recall.

I worry about the nick of a nine year old car with such low mileage.

We'll see.

I'd love it if she got one, then I'd enjoy driving her car too.

Remember....no car handles like the wife's car!!

I bought a 2002 E46 30 months ago and had it until December last year, it too was a low mileage car (33k) and i had no issues with it whatsoever because of the mileage. In fact the worst i experienced was a couple of cracked springs, which i understand is fairly common.

I agree the price too much but considering its an AUC i reckon only by as much as £2,500. Its also worth noting that the advertised price is more like what you would expect to pay for a CS, which offers substantial improvements over the 2000 - 2004 cars.

Thanks for the comments.

I agree about the CS comment, a lovely driver's car indeed.

Almost bought one until I drove an E60....instant love and still miss it badly.

I'll have a chat with the dealer tomorrow about this car.

I still think these E46 M3s are one of the best looking BMWs ever.
