M5 warranty question (trivial but advice appreciated)
Discussion
Hi all
I have just had an engine bay rattle fixed (I hope) by my local main dealer, which they tell me is due to some heat shielding low down in the engine bay coming loose.
I have the Comprehensive Mondial cover (it’s on a 55 plate E60) but this doesn’t cover trim which is what the dealer is saying the heat shielding is classed as and they have a bill ready for me to pay!
Fair call re the warranty excluding trim, but my view is that although heat shielding isn’t a structural item it’s more than just cosmetic as it does play some part in temperature management within the engine bay – otherwise why fit it?
Do any of you have experience of this issue please? General thoughts also appreciated.
Thanks

yes, they are probably using the term "trim" as anything under http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=EH92&a...
Depending on the nature of the failure you might get some sort of goodwill if you can argue that there is premature failure.
