Looking for a Facelift Le Mans Blue E39 M5
Discussion
Morning fellow M Power enthusiasts.
I thought I would start a topic here as I'm currently looking to buy one of the above and as I'm an impatient chap, looking to buy one, sooner rather than later.
The only must have really, is the sat nav. For some reason I just feel like the interior is incomplete without it.
I'm trying to find an example with around 80-100k miles on it.
Those are the only two preferences really, so if you have one that you're thinking of selling, I would love to hear from you.
I live down near Bromley in North Kent, but really don't mind travelling around to see cars.
Thanks,
H

The best of luck to you! I've been searching around 6-8 months for similar (Le Mans blue, facelift, no mods). Currently pursuing one in Chiswick but it's higher miles than what you are seeking.I thought I would start a topic here as I'm currently looking to buy one of the above and as I'm an impatient chap, looking to buy one, sooner rather than later.

Many thanks, it sounds like you need a bit of luck as well.

Good luck.

Cheers, yes it is, looks very well maintained from everything the seller has told me. The problem is simply that I am very busy and there are people viewing before me
Interestingly the car I viewed back in January was Anthracite, I've never seen one since for sale or otherwise. IMO the next best colour, alongside Silverstone.

Well hopefully this will be the one then, fingers crossed for you.

I went and saw one in Hexagons (just because i was in the area last week) and it was Scarab Green with champagne leather. It was an individual spec, but nothing special. Quite a bit of rust and the alloys were flaking.

Love that colour combinationI have seen a Le Mans Blue one about I think I know where this is now
Hi,
Good luck with the search for one!
I'd also say like many others will and have on here and other forums etc, to buy a car that's mechanically as best as you can find and keep options/toys further down the priority list! The oem audio and GPS system whilst still quite functional is getting very long in the tooth now and you've mentioned the main reason for it, which is how it 'looks' in the dash. Cassette is a dead format now, AM will soon (next couple years!) be switched off, FM will have a handful of local radio stations in the UK broadcasting and CD's popularity is in decline. The GPS side of things on the oem setup is better in so much it works and has updates for new maps etc. Sound quality isn't very good, and to add things like iPod control, bluetooth (although old now and less new handsets will work with it) the hybrid Digital TV tuner, Mk4 GPS computer (faster processing is the reason for this) combined will cost you well north of £1000 excluding any fitting you might need to pay someone to do.
In short, skipping a mechanically good E39 M5 for another car because there's no Satnav isn't such a good idea! if you *REALLY* must have the oem widescreen/audio GPS setup, you could always retrofit it later to a car which didn't have it.
I think also that Le Mans Blue for the E39 M5 was the most popular colour of all for UK examples, so you do have the highest chance of finding a car !
Cheers, Dennis!

Thanks for the advice, I agree that the spec really doesn't come into it compared to its mechanical condition. And whilst LM blue might be the most popular colour, by and large it has been Carbon Black cars most commonly for sale.Another E39 M5 potential purchaser here, although i'm looking at the cheaper end of the market around £6K. Just missed out on the one in PH classifieds in Rutland. Sounded like a good'un. I am scouting every online sales point daily, but drawing a bit of a blank at the moment. If it's reasonably good at a sensible price they seem to sell within a couple of days.

Well good sir, thank you for the heads up
but unfortunately I had already beaten you to it. As nice as the car is, it's slightly out of my price range.Don't feel put down though, you get out there and trawl those advertisements and keep putting suggestions up....

Thanks for the advise Dennis and I take your comments on board, but if I'm not going to buy a mechanically unsound car just because it has sat nav. Obviously if the right car comes up, then I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. Good luck with the search for one!

I would rather pay the extra £1000 for a car with sat nav, than to try and retrofit.
Hopefully my perfect spec will come up soon........

Update.
My spec has changed slightly as I need rear folding seats.
So this is what I'm looking for;
Le Mans Blue Facelift
Folding rear seats
Full black leather
Mileage around 100k ideally but if the car is mechanically sound and ticks all other boxes, then I'll make a compromise.
Let me know if you're looking to sell or know of someone that is.
Mucho gracias
