I've wanted one for years so now that I was in a position to get one, I thought I might as well biggrin.
I picked this up on Monday.
It's a 5 owner car, fairly low spec, doesn't have phone or pdc etc, but I didn't buy it for this!

Has had alot of money thrown at it, 107k miles, back box delete, refurbed alloys, very little in the way of rust. Just had a new fuel pump fitted by the previous owner at a cost of £173 just for the pump.
It's carbon black, pre face lift.

A nice place to be

Surprised at how little room there is - not to worry, I dont sit in these seats

No DSP

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Pixel issue. Not bothered.

Fuel filler cap - no rust!

Looks really nice!
Welcome to the M5 fold.

Personally I think you have done the right thing and bought on condition. The toys are dated now anyway.

Nice one. Enjoy the V8

Thanks mate smile Condition was my main criteria really. I wanted a mechanically good car and good body work. Bodywork itself could do with some tidying, I'll probably treat it to a full respray next year. Mechanically, apart from hearing the VANOS very slightly, all seems to be well. I think the fuel pump relay may be on its way out though, it didnt want to start on the first attempt when cold yesterday, though it was fine this morning.

The Sat Nav is pretty useless, I just my phone. Just need to get an Intravee and Alpine KCA-420i so that I can play my tunes from my phone!

Have a look at the oil filter mounts and the 2 oil separator hoses (just above/behind the 2 air intakes.

Chances are the hoses will be very soft and need replacing.

Thanks Patrick - Are they the ones just to the left and right of the ///M badge on the plenum cover?

That's the ticket. They'll be noticeably soft if they haven't been replaced, even worse when hot. When I took mine off I could twist each one half a dozen times.

Not clever! I'll check them before I leave work in about 40 mins. The car will have been sat for 12 hours by then. Are they dear? hahaahahahaha, what a daft question, its an M5. If I have to ask I shouldnt of bought it hahahahaha

Not at all. I was a little over 30 for the pair from bmminiparts.com.

14 and 15 here-

Easiest DIY you'll come across, just need a screw driver.

I do mate yes.

Cheers for the link. I have a mate with diag kit as well. Been researching this issue, seems common and none has managed to resolve it.

Checked the hoses. They're not as bad as yours were. Ill replace them anyway.

What issue do they cause?

They'll eventually collapse in on themselves I think.

My old car! This is the first time I have seen one of my old cars with a new owner!

Surprise you mention it's not starting first time, never had that issue before, always started on the button for me.

Might be connected to the new fuel pump do you think Mike? Although I only fitted it on the Sunday and you picked it up on Monday so only started it once or twice from cold, don't remember it being difficult to start.

Hi Jose, it is indeed mate! I'm still loving it. Managed 27mpg on the way home!

It started doing it yesterday mate from cold. I'm hoping it might be the relay mate so I'm gonna get a new one. It was starting from cold fine every time when I got it from you so it's a new issue lol.

I'm sure ill get to the bottom of it. It does seem to be common though. It's strange as it starts second time and starts every time from warm.

Not ideal! I've requested a price anyway.

The oil filter housing mounts, one has snapped which I know is standard issue. Not cheap i don't think lol.

Little bits like this I expect from a 14 year old car tbh. It's been well looked after by the previous owners so I'm sure these little niggles will get resolved!

Also just incase I forgot to mention any of the work I done to it here is a list off the top of my head:

New headlight adjusters in both headlamps (these are very common failures)
Gearbox oil - Royal Purple synchromax
Diff oil - castrol syntrax
Gear lever bushes
Front and rear antiroll bar bushes
Oem lemforder thrust arms

With the muffler delete and a few other ods and sods (like the last minute fuel pump) I'm sure it's taken over £1k from me since March!

The mounts are fking outrageous for what they are, have a look at my profile.
