Hi. Been following posts on here for a while but this is my first so if there's any mistakes please bare with me. I'm lucky enough at the young age of 22 to be in the situation where I can purchase an M5.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

I have been to look at this car as well as many others and everything seems good, full Sytner service history, only on its second owner who has had it from 12 months old, 4 new conti's 200 miles ago and its just had the clutch done at sytner's in nottingham as well full health check with certificate. Apart from bluetooth the it ticks all the boxes in options department as well. It's far from the cheapest for age and mileage but compared to others i've looked at that have been cheaper it is mint and the seller has agreed to pay half towards a 12 month mondial warranty which I understand is a must.

Anything else that I should be checking and double checking? Kind regards. Chayten

Would have been good if mileage had been below 60K so you could have taken out the monthly Mondial warranty at the significantly cheaper rate.

The car looks good but the "mega spec" is really not that mega as the list is basically the standard options.

Most of that long list is standard specification. Exception being heads up display and pro nav the rest I believe would be on any other M5 (also on all Msport models)

The advert excludes the following info
MOT length
VED length
Service history?main dealer or Independant
Service history what has been done when (given milage its quite possible its on the original discs and pads as such that's a significant cost awaiting next owner
Tyres tread depth as in new tyres or part worn
Has it been serviced only by BMW therefore you could go for the BMW warranty

There is normally a reason for the car being the cheapest example.

If it were me, I would pay for a full inspection by BMW for piece of mind.

Don't they all have a heads up display?

Hi. Not really the response I was expecting.

It has had 4 new Continental tires 200 miles ago (4 new conti's), full sytner bmw service history, did state that the seller was willing to pay half towards the mondial warranty and after going through the options the only ones I could find missing was the comfort access and full leather, apart from that the active seats, rear sun blinds, heated rear seats as well as fronts and the all important ( to me anyway) logic 7 sound system was all there.

I'm fairly certain it will come with 12 months MOT but I will check that, not to sure what the VED is though??

Thanks for your input guys. Chayten

VED = road tax c£500 for this sort of vehicle so not an insignificant cost if they offer none ten make sure you take your VED out of your current vehicle if your part xing it against the M5 else its just more needless profit for them.

I beg to differ. I believe that is it standard apart from a couple of obscure markets (like Sweden).

Actually, VED on a 2005 M5 will, if it was registered early enough, only be £280 a year (or whatever the equivalent rate is nowadays.)

Agreed. Pretty sure pro nav is standard as well.

I wouldn't worry too much about that car, it looks the mutts nuts. I paid slightly over that 15 months ago for mine. 58k miles, same year of car, well spec'd but with less options than this one.

Go for it, you wont regret the purchase but be aware, E60 M5 ownership is not for those with a thin wallet. It can really drink the juice. It drinks expensive oil (a must) and every thing you want to do to the car with oem ///M parts, costs.

True - although as the seller says, this is anything but the cheapest example

Have you actually read the ad? (Hint, Sytner)

For anyone who want to know what the standard list of features were on the M5 then look at this pdf linked below. There is also the optional extra's which shows what could have been specced back in 2007/8.

I've just emailed a guy about a 2007 M5 its a company car but the driver of the car has left the company and they don't really know what extra's were fitted when new. Is their anyway i can find out from BMW with the reg number ? The guy has offered to phone me tomorrow whilst he sits in the car & goes through whats fitted but he says he doesn't know anyrthing about M5's.

Its had front discs last year but no clutch yet which is only a matter of time !

I am looking for a facelift below 60k if poss with M6 alloys in either Silverstone or Interlargos blue, prefer not to have the rear tinted windows but that is prooving hard to find.

Thanks
Simon.

If a private plate has been fitted the reg may not be recognised on BMW database, also ask for the vin no. usally the last five digits and 2 letter will do ie AB12345, BMW should give a full spec.
