e39 m5 drive snatching

When accelerating hard or not from time to timethe car will lose drive for a second or two then snatch back again. This also happens cruising on the motorway too. I've had a new clutch put in about 2000 miles ago and a new battery about 4 months ago. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

I found this got better as a result of the following. Each made a bit more difference:
clutch and flywheel
driveshaft (prop shaft) with centre bearing.
rear subframe and diff bushes.
