I'm in the enjoyable process of speccing an LCI M5 and I'm still trying to decide (among many other spec decisions) which colour to go for. I'm almost decided on either Sapphire black or Azurite black, but if I go with one of those two, I can't decide on whether to have black alloys or not. Anyway, I had a look at all the used F10 M5s on the BMW AUC site to see what looks good in the real world and more than half are Monte Carlo blue! I don't get it at all. I think the car looks great in black, one of the very dark blues or maybe grey. Even in light grey or silver. But I really don't understand why so many people wanted their new M5 in Monte Carlo blue. Is it that people want to hark back to the old M Power colours of red, blue and white? There's also a load of white ones on there too, but white is getting more popular generally so I understand that.

Presumably my understated black car will be a little harder to sell in two or three years time.

I went for Sakhir Orange.

Brave, some might say, but definitely not as ubiquitous as MC Blue or Alpine White. And equally, you will not see any 520ds in Sakhir.

Go with the colour YOU want. Do not splurge 80 large (or even mid 60's after haggling) with any consideration for resale or prospective future buyers' opinion.

This is your car.

I like mine smile .

Hi Dr Ed,

I've been reading as much as I can on PH but can't see anything about best prices for LCI M5s other than there are great finance and contract hire deals available at the moment. What makes you say that mid-£60k is achievable? Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'm trying to finalise the numbers this week.

Black looks ace when its all shiny and new.

After a few washes and a blat up the motorway it'll be full of swirls and stone chips and look 10 years old.

Buy what you like, that 's all that matters really, unless resale is a consideration of course.

White is not the best in my opinion and while black can be awesome, it looks a bit plain and understated a lot of the time.

Silverstone II is a cracking choice, a fabulous M5 colour.

I fell in love with MCB with silverstone leather when I saw one like that in a showroom.....looked stunning and I knew then I'd have one.

Had mine detailed when I got it and wow......gets lots of attention, comments and admiring glances, more than my E60 did.

What a great thing it is for you to be in the position to choose, eh?

Have fun!

Hi S&C

I can't speak specifically for LCI examples as my car was registered last month and not a facelift model, however my car was spec'd to a sticker price of 79.6 and I paid 66.1. If you do finance, as I did, there is a dealer contribution of just over 6k - I didn't try hard at all to get a further reduction. The 'Current Offers' page on the BMW UK website still illustrates finance with the dealer contribution, so it shouldn't be unreasonable to assume this can only now apply to LCI M5s.

Hope you get a deal that suits.

Doctored.

I ordered one on a two year lease deal last week and went for Singapore Grey with orange interior. Didn't want Blue or White. Hopefully it will look great as I've not actually seen one in the flesh.

Hi,

May I ask who your lease deal was with? BMW Finance? I'm wondering if they are the cheapest. Still haven't decided between lease and PCP. Among all the other things that I haven't decided but at least the options and colour, etc. are fun choices to make. The lease vs 0% PCP is too close to call!

It's with BMW finance for business users only. Started out talking about a retail deal with another dealer and swapped for a better deal via the business. If you want details PM me and I'll put you in touch.

I've gone for MCB with orange interior. My 8 year old daughter thought the orange looked the best so i thought what the hell. Dealer wanted a large deposit off me when I ordered because of that colour combo. Hehe

What's LCI?

I know it's gonna be a stupid question but i see it on many F10 M5 threads & can't for the life of me think or remember what it stands for??

Currently hunting down some of these Contract Hire deals as the contract on my A8 Exec ends in 8 weeks so need to get a move on with it's replacement.

Paul

Its BMW speak for 'facelift'. The M5 has had one with effect from July I believe.

8 weeks - time to get back into a GTR?

David

PS Still have mine!!

I'd have a serious thought about Moonstone....stunning colour only ever seen it on one car.

Best M5 I have seen was Singapore Grey with what looked like Red Leather. I like the idea of Orange though, fair play!

I looked at all the colours and decided on MCB and Extended Silverstone leather.
Saw Silverstone II in the flesh and it looked cheap IMO. Black just needs constant cleaning.
Pick mine up sunday morning 1st September LCI model.
