I know it is expensive but I want folding seats and the ski hatch! laugh But honestly, am I mad to consider paying this much for an E39 M5?

Folding seats are quite rare but you can retrofit the ski hatch.

Well that should help the OP. rolleyes

At the end of the day ML cars will carry a bit of a premium (as will a dealer) but an object is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.

Have you driven it?

Ps. The folding seats are very rare.

Are they?

Mine had folding seats and so does my m3.

Stupidly I just thought these were standard.

Amazed that you still have yours nickrex.

I have decided to hold back on selling mine until I get back from hols so hopefully when I get back you have sold yours and I won't be tempted to drive all the way to South Wales to look at it.......

Cheers Trev

If you like it buy it !! but arent you paying a premium for the low miles, which if you are going to use it , will mean loosing quite a bit of value ?

It's in the best colour...buy it! Pricey really but folding seats are very rare. I was Adam-Ant I needed these but in the end I just went for the best car and I've survived very easily. I think the ski hatch is retrofit but not the seats.

For what it's worth it's probably just as likely to throw a bill at you as a higher mileage one.

I wouldn't be going for one at that price even if I could.

Me too Trev! I've had a huge amount of interest, but mostly all either genuine buyers who want to part ex or need to sell their current car or idiotic scammers. The pitfalls of selling privately I suppose.

It'll be going to a dealership soon who contacted me wanting o sell it on a sale or return basis. He can sort part ex, warranties, finance etc. If I could do that it would of sold weeks ago!!

For an E39 with those miles ? at that price ? Yep, you're mad to consider it.

Thanks for all your comments. Agreed, it's expensive but it's actually very difficult to find a good one these days, as you all know. Prices are all over the shop - as is the mileage and many are dogs. I've got an E39 540i sport now but it doesn't have folding seats or the ski hatch, which I know you can retrofit. I have bikes and sometimes, especially for long journeys, I'd rather carry it in the car due to wind noise, MPG, stress on the carbon etc. Hence, folding seats would be a real win otherwise I'll end up buying a 535d Touring!

Going to see and drive it this Saturday although they told me it will be 'dusty' as BMW are using it for a photoshoot.
Apparently MAFs have just been changed, new front discs and pads, rear pads 30% worn, all new tyres, front alloys refurbed and they noticed/will fix as part of the sale:
Pixels dropping out
Self sealant tyre thing out of date
Diff seal weeping slightly but not serious (suppose I could check and ask to replace?)
Brake fluid (will do early as due Jan 2014)
Oil change
Filters
It has four green lights so I expect next service to be Inspection 2 based on the above but will check when there.

Re the double glazing - exhaust sound will be deadend a bit but it's going to be super quiet at cruising speeds? Better at regulating temperature? Any other benefits?

The double glazing will be mega expensive to replace when it fails and it will at some point.

an option that is only really worth it in very cold climates.

It's up for £14,500 and has pixels not working and a leaky diff? Amazing.

They said they'll fix the issues mentioned above prior to handing the car over, so not really a concern.
