Well after a couple of weeks of decision making & then a further week negotiating i've finally pressed the button on my order for the A8's replacement in November.

Decided in the end i fancied another bash with Munich's finest & have ordered the following:

BMW F10 M5 Saloon S63 4.4i MY14 LCi
Singapore Grey
Silverstone Extended Merino Leather

Options:
Bootlid Operation, Powered
Loudspeaker System - Harman/Kardon Surround Sound

The car is being built to order & expected delivery is 12 weeks so will dovetail perfectly with the end of Contract of my current A8.

May have to watch this clip over & over until collection day. Is also a great review on Top Gear (Season 18 - Episode 7) but the one on YouTube appears brokenfrown

Was the toughest colour choice i think i've ever had. Did opt for MCB with Silverstone Extended but at the last moment switched to Singapore. Did this for 3 simple reasons, firstly i'll be running the car for 3 years & thought the Blue might get tedious over that period, secondly had Interlagos Blue on my E60 M5 & thirdly had 2 blue cars followed by 2 white cars so fancied a change. Also like the fact that Singapore is possibly a tad rarer & stealth than MCB.

W8PMC,

What sort of offer did BMW offer you?

I am seriously considering one of these cars on the 0% APR deal towards the end of the year and the more people I speak to on here and in person the better deal I think myself and others will be able to achieve.

True but the M3 was at the end of its life cycle. The F10 M5 probably has another 4 more years of production left and the uptake has not been brilliant. I think the 0% finance deals will continue....all in my opinion of course!

Lovely cars, but given the deals to be had isn't anyone concerned by the residual? Personally I wouldn't want to own one but a lease, where someone else takes the risk is another matter...

As far as I know, the balloon payment is option, you can opt not to renew after 24/36 months or trade up or down.

The attraction of owning performance cars left me a couple of years ago. When you can lease one for LESS than the depreciation alone, it takes a brave person to want to own onesmile

In a nutshell, i get to run a brand new M5 LCi built to my desired colour/spec with limited running costs (servicing & RFL are included) for £7200 per annum. I would hazard a guess the car will depreciate at double that in yr1 & at around £10k pa for the next 2 yrs, so totally ignoring the cost of money over 3yrs, I've paid £22k as against a pure depreciation loss of say £32k plus servicing & RFL so another £2k over the same period. Makes leasing these cars a bit of a no brainer.

As we've all heard, if it appreciates buy it, but if it depreciates lease it, especially if it depreciates at such a hefty ratesmile

I'm prepared for all criticism of my man maths;)

Unless you want ot keep it? I am buying mine for the same cost as you are renting yours. Not sure which one works out cheaper as never bothered to work it out. i just like the idea of it being my car.

Eveyone is different I suppose.
