M135 (sorry another thread)
Discussion
Wife is about to have first child in 10 weeks. I will be giving her my 325 touring for day to day use, I need something more usable for more miles i am now doing so was thinking of a 5dr m135 rather than being boring and getting a diesel 3 or c class.
Couple of boring questions for those who have one- What is the normal fuel consumption like and secondly does anyone have young baby with one, is boot big enough for all crap etc? I have no idea what is coming my way with this baby...!

Worth checking out http://www.babybmw.net/viewforum.php?f=74&sid=... too as this is a dedicated section for M135i owners who'd be happy to advise.

When pushed we've had all the baby stuff for a day out with our 2 year old and newborn in my old shape 5 door 1 Series, and the new one series is bigger. I wouldn't want to do it every day but you can get baby seats in the back ok, and most pushchairs in the boot along with a couple of bags of "essentials" / other clutter.

Mpg can be what ever you want! I did about 1000 miles on holiday in France recently at an average of 35 and a best of 40, but I was driving it easily. Others all talk about mid to low 20s around town or booting it. It's 15 to 20% better than the 130 it replaced I reckon. Boot will be big enough for a baby, if you are careful in your choice of stuff (I.e. no mega prams). When my son was young we had a focus that was plenty big enough and I think the BMW is bigger than the focus was.
I'm not sure it would be big enough - you need a LOT of cr4p for really young babies - travel system/buggy, endless other gubbins, etc. As they get older, you need a lot less - hence looking for an M135i 5dr to replace our 335d Touring (which used to be a squeeze when our little ones, now almost 5 and 2, were very little).

Oh I dunno....we managed with a Saxo VTS until my boy was one. It was a squeeze but I was determined not to changed the car just for him. In the end we changed to a focus to get extra doors as he got too heavy to lift in.
It all depends on how much crap you want to take, it seems like more and more is the modern way, but I reckon you'd be ok with a 1 series and one child. Two on the other hand....

I have one, I also have a 2 year old boy. In my experience the boot is fine, it's not as big as my old Mk5 Golf Edition 30, but it still swallowed a big buggy, bags and other stuff. However, the Mrs does have a C-Max, so that tends to do most of the work. We've never been caught short in my car though.Couple of boring questions for those who have one- What is the normal fuel consumption like and secondly does anyone have young baby with one, is boot big enough for all crap etc? At about 5k on the clock, it's averaging about 31.5mpg which is a mix of B-road fun, A roads and motorway work. I don't drive for economy and will often find an excuse to run 2nd and 3rd through the rev range (I have the 8 speed auto).
On a recent run from Beaconsfield to Liverpool, these were the figures it produced. Not bad of a 320bhp 3litre if you ask me.
I really struggle to fault this car at the moment, it's utterly brilliant and I don't think it can be surpassed in terms of value and performance by anything else in the price range.
