As far as I know there are 2 types of M6 Alloys (there may even be 3). You can get M6 style alloys that are specifically made for the M5 E61. Are these what you have, or did you buy a set of E60 167 Alloys?Thanks
The E61 is designed to carry more weight on the rear axle (being an estate) so I reckon the reason they fitted 275 tyres on it is to allow the tyres to clear the arches more easily when the rear axle is fully laden.

Umm, sorry to rain on your parade but... the peak load figures of the saloon and the estate are much the same (the estate is rated at 10kg less). And the E61 has self levelling rear suspension via air springs.Thats just my guess. It might not be the actual explanation. I like it though.
