Stolen from Chislehurst (Bromley) Monaco Blue E61 M5 FE57GNF

Just as the title says...
Woke up this morning to find the driveway empty. Must have happened between 12am and 6am. No broken glass, no nothing. Very clean and professional. The car had the BMW fix, which as I always suspected is not really a fix. If you see it anywhere you know what to do. Not have much hope that it will be found, I hope its new owner in South Africa or wherever high end stolen cars are shipped to these days enjoys it as much as I did...
And now for the joy of dealing with insurance companies and their valuations...

Doesn't the BMW 'fix' prevent blank keys being added to the car? If so, they must have just pushed it down the road then lifted it onto a truck or something?

No broken glass, so somehow they managed to open it... Also, there is no way you can come out of my drive without starting the car - or you need an army of thieves to push up hill and turn at 90 deg at the same time... Defo a repogrammed key... It only had 1/4 tank left in it, they could not have gone far...Doesn't the BMW 'fix' prevent blank keys being added to the car? SO the fix wasn't a true solution? Just a token reaction to the furore that had threatened BMW's reputation?
Without knowing how OP's car was stolen it's impossible to say.If the fix prevented the adding of new keys through the OBD port without an original key present, and that had been applied to OP's car, then the scum couldn't have used that method.
Sorry to hear this mate but glad they didn't have to come in for the key. There is one thing to be said for having the silencer delete and that is that the damn thing will wake the whole house and neighbourhood up!
I am amazed that they can take cars like this despite the fix, I wonder how long it is before mine is gone as it sits on the drive too.

I may be wrong but I understand the "fix" stops the window dropping when you turn the key (or any other object) in the lock. I don't think its does anything to the ODB port. So its not a proper fix.
The fix was meant to disable the OBD port without a key. The windows were being smashed (small quarterlight) and the thieves reaching in and hooking up machine onto OBD port and then programming blank key outside of the car. Sorry to hear this mate- remember reading http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Hope you have luck retrieving it.
