Advice required. M3 E46 Exhaust issue
Discussion
Hi their.
I hope someone can give me some advice.
I have a 2004 E46 M3 Cab, upon taking it to the garage for some fresh tyres yesterday, it was clear that the brackets on the rear and middle section of the exchaust are rusted through and are in need or replacement.
I have been looking at an after market one, but being honest i dont want to spend £1200 or more.
Has anyone repaired the OEM exhaust? Or does anyone know of anyone selling an OEM one.
I need the CAT back system.
i apprecaite any advice.
Thanks
Alex

ditto, had the same issue on mine about six months ago. See here

the exhaust is stainless the clamps are mild/carbon steel. but the factory ones are irreplacable without splitting them. I did mine myself for just under a tenner! I also have a space cat back OEM system i bought from a kind gent on here as a fil safe. if your stuck, PM me i will pass it on for what i paid for it.

3 ways.
I had this issue no more than a week or 2 ago.
First one, but Peugeot clamps, and clamps them together. £10.
Second one (which i did), but new clamps, you will need 4, plus gaskets and have them welded on. Easy enough.
Third one, someone on here mentioned you can get a kit from munich legends which is the same as above but without the wedling. (although im unsure how well this will work, depends on the state of the exhuast.

Exactly why i bought a spare system, the outside was so badly corroded I feared the innards would collapse. At that point the car was my daily. There is a chap on M3cutters who has designed some larger versions of the original claps which are designed to be welded. its very well documented. I took the Peugeot clamp route. Been on a few months no issues, other than being rather unsightly. Option 4 does exist but its considerably more expensive than 1,2 & 3.

Yes, I think the exhaust place used clamps for a Peugeot 605 on mine when the existing clamps rusted through.I had this issue no more than a week or 2 ago.
