Battery replacement
Discussion
Hi all,
The battery on my 3 year old m3 has finally given up and I have been quoted nearly 300 quid for a new one fitted from the stealers. I understand the new battery will need coding etc and was wondering if someone could recommend someone in the SE who could do this a bit cheaper and I don't want to buy the software/hardware coder and do it myself. Thanks guys.

Explain "given up" because thats a mighty short shelf life.... Mine was recently playing up on a 2008 car but one reconditioning program performed by a Ctek battery conditioner (£60) has given it a whole new lease of life and I've had no problems since! Amazing bit of kit really;

There has been more than one debate about whether the car needs to be "told" it has a new battery, here's one currently (sorry!) going on in the Mini section: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... FWIW my view is that you can pop in a new battery if the car does not have regenerative braking and the so-called "smart charge" alternator is NOT regenerative braking.
