PCH Nearly new?
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone has looked down this route?
I'm in an E92 atm…due to end my PCH in Feb, so looking at different options….so far
1. Extend my M3 for 6 months or so till M4 arrives….although it's expected to be pricey to begin with….first choice but prob a non runner due to cost
2. F10 M5 @ 6 + 23@£489+vat or thereabouts plus toys/bits…on budget. £600-700/month
3. 640d Msport @ 6 + 23@£465+vat or thereabouts plus toys/bits…on budget £600-700/month
I'd love to stay in an M car but atm the only option is the M5 and I do prefer a coupe and not a big saloon. Hence the reason for looking at a 640d….must say I was hugely impressed…especially with the cabin and the torque….it may be diesel but it's no slouch. Not the bomb that the M5 has under the bonnet mind you, nor the V8 noise…..So as you can prob guess, I'm torn.
640d has the style and gives my wallet a slight break fuel wise. But the M5 is an M car…the pinnacle of BMW engineering, although not as stylish as the 6 coupe.
I test drove the M5 but it was lashing with rain, so I spent an hour splashing through puddles and not going above 4000rpm…pointless and underwhelming. i don't doubt that if I go on a dry day and light it up, it will blow me away, but I want more than out and out savagery….I'm a vain fooker, so style is important and although the M5 is a fine looking car, unless you're a bit of a petrol head, you'd just think its a fine looking big family saloon.
So here's the question….has anyone ever leased a used BMW…apparently BMW will lease you a used car, if it was a demo. Now a quick look through the BMW auc cars and there appears to be several ex demo M6's….so I'd get the v8, the style, stunning cabin and still an M car…what's not to like,
Ex demo M6 prices are in line with a new M5, but what are the PCH rates likely to be? Clearly the manufacturer support isn't there for a demo and residuals play a large part in the contract hire price, but surely a used M6 has lost it's worst sum in the first 6 months, hence 2000 mile M6's around the mid 60's mark. Just no idea what the pch would be.
Any ideas.

I'd be interested to to find this out too. Have you considered a Jag xkr- 510hp, v8 and looks great and apparently £20k off list price.
Last time i looked at the performance Jag's i was almost laughed out of the showroom as their PCP & Lease deals are horrific. For an XKR you'd pay TWICE what you'd pay on the current M5 deals for a car that's let's be honest although nice is never going to match an M for overall Driving Experience.W8PMC said:

Granted this is the xkrs, but seems to compare favourably with the m5- you will need subtitles on. Fair enough on the pcp deals, it is something I will look into soon.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o6LqxsRcQb8
PCH tends to only be available on new cars and PCP is sometimes available on used. There is so much hidden manufacturer/dealer bonus in the background available on the M5, 640d hence the silly PCH rental deals. PCH is less regulated than PCP and therefore you never get to see how much the car costs the contract hire company. A second hand car/demo is more than likely to be more expensive than the new car to the hire company anyway and will therefore be more expensive.
BMW finance loose money on every contract hire deal as it is their means of generating market share.

So here's the quotes I've got for the PCH….
New M5 6 + 23 @£489 + vat = £586.80 /month List £73k + bits or thereabouts
New M6 6 + 23 @£829 + vat = £994.80 /month List £94k + bits or thereabouts
Used M6 6 + 23 @£1358 + vat = £1630.32 /month Used price £69850 fully loaded.
all quoted on 8k miles from BMW. Not from an online source.
Can someone please explain the used M6 quote to me please. Gobsmacked doesn't quite cover it. Almost 3 times the PCH cost of an equally priced new M5!!!
