Guys, has anyone else had something like this with the E60 M5. A coldish morning this morning and about 8 miles into my morning commute after a ninety right I got the dreaded bong firstly with DSC and then the tyre pressure monitor. I noticed that the indicators has lost their ability to self-cancel so suspect the problem was related to the steering angle sensor.

Starting it up this evening all was fine, no mention of any errors even after a 20 mile run. I have the mondial warranty so not particularly concerned, just wondered if anyone had anything similar?

Thanks
Fred

Mine does this very occasionally and today was one of those days.

Those set of warnings are also linked to the throttle actuators. The E92 M3 also brings up these warnings if the throttle actuators are not happy. It could be a prelude to a failure.

Thanks guys, its booked in tomorrow for diagnostics. They tend to agree its the steering angle sensor - I struggle to see how throttle actuators would cause the indicators to not self-cancel, its useful info for the future anyway as I know there are problems with the throttles.

Thanks

I think those warnings are a generic set of warnings that are generated for various failure modes, for the E9X M3 at least. Not knowing what is involved with the steering angle sensor hopefully it will be a simpler fix than swapping the throttle actuators.

possibly battery on the way out and low voltage giving some random errors. My E61 550i suffering from this.

Or water in the boot....

Many times you will get a series of warnings because of a set of dependencies. In other words cruise control might be fine but relies on DSC. As soon as you press the cruise button you get the bong because it can't initialise correctly. Another example is hill-start assist failing due to DSC not working right which might be due to stability assist or some other TLA system failing.

Ummm, remarkably similar to a problem I have with my E90 currently! No traction or wheel monitor, and an EDC light when I turn the engine off (an icon of a suspension shock). Indicators won't cancel either. Could this be the steering angle sensor? Its booked into local stealer for Monday and I'm expecting them to try and rip me off. (Sorry for thread hijack but perhaps there's some common knowledge we can pool!)

Just in case this is helpful to someone searching in the future, my warnings were solved by resetting the steering angle sensor. A cheap solution on this occasion thankfully!

I just had this happen for the first time at the weekend on my E61 M5. DSc warning. Stopped. Turned ignition off, back on again - moved off and it disappeared. Like you I have the mondial zero excess so I'll keep an eye!

My dealer said they sometimes see this after tyres have been changed, my fronts were but about a month before the fault. It hasn't happened again and they put it down to a glitch.

I'll obviously watch it but the car has been fine.
