Im thinking about redoing the alloys on my e39. They are silver having been refurbed before my ownership, but I am considering going for a darker colour.

Any thoughts?

Edit: carbon black. Stupid auto correct

Not a fan of dark wheels really, even more so on black cars. To me they just make the tyres look dirty and dull, you might as well have cheap black steel wheels with no trim!

Plenty of example out there

OEM Shadow chrome is the best option for these IMO, anything else just cheapens the cars appearance.

Yup the shadow chrome on the original E39 wheels and also the Z3M wheels are just about the best M car wheels there have been IMHO.

You lose all the detail of the alloys by going black. I would re-do them in OEM chrome shadow or Hyper Silver

OEM shadow chrome is the only way to go IMO.
