Mondial, CBS, indie over-maintenance questions
Discussion
Hi all, I'm considering upgrading to a newish BMW, which has been run on condition based servicing - CBS.
CBS isn't ideal in my opinion - if I'm keeping the car for a while I want to look after it properly.
It's never been outside the dealer network, and has had a BMW Mondial warranty in place since the AUC warranty ran out, so I can transfer the Mondial wty into my name with the help of the current owner then I can pay a reasonable amount monthly to keep the warranty, seemingly forever and ever and everer. It's sub-60k miles so a monthly payment setup will remain a fixed cost for life, I think.
Having searched, it appears Mondial's T&C have changed recently to allow non-main dealer servicing, provided receipts are kept and OE parts/fluids are used, and all repairs/warranty work is still done within the dealer network. I have asked Mondial for confirmation of this in writing.
My plan is to buy the car, keep the warranty going, but get it serviced a lot more frequently at an independent/BMW-trained BMW specialist using longlife oils etc (not much more £££ than cheaper stuff) instead of relying on a daft computer to tell me to dump the oil after 18,000+ when it's turned to treacle.
Any warranty work would obviously be shunted back to the main dealer. Harsh on them as they're missing out on servicing charges (sob, sob) but I have no choice as Mondial state repairs are main-dealer only.
Does anyone run a car like this, flipping between indie and dealer while under Mondial wty, and have they experienced problems with either Mondial or a main dealer getting snotty being asked to fix a car they only get to see when it's broken?
TIA

It's probably better to buy your own recommended oils and genuine parts and get a quote just for the labour from the main stealers. As it's a new-ish car I doubt you'll save anything by going to an indie when you consider resale value and also it's not really worth the hassle trying to convince Mondial when you need warranty work done.
The monthly Mondial warranty is not transferable to a new owner, only the annual one is. So if the car is close to 60k miles then you should take out the monthly one just before it hits 60k.

The monthly warranty is transferable to a new owner as long as you do it within 10 days. I did this on my E63 M6 and the monthly instalments are the same as the previous owner paidThe monthly Mondial warranty is not transferable to a new owner, only the annual one is. Ta for the replies, much appreciated.
Mondial have now replied as follows - "Please accept this email as confirmation that you may use a BMW Specialist for servicing. This is providing the garage is VAT registered and use genuine BMW oils, filters, parts etc."
I also bobbed into my local main dealer today and they've told me that in an increasingly litigious world they no longer <cough> touch owners parts or fill a sump with anything other than BMW oil supplied direct from BMW - just not worth the potential hassle.

judging by the mileage I'm guessing it could be an older car.
are you aware that BMW offer reduced cost servicing for E46 M3s, and E39 M5s?
