SMG Software - E46

I've heard that the SMG software was different in a CSL - ie the fastest settings were quicker. Is that right?

Is there any way of knowing what version of the software is in the SMG ECU?

I believe the difference was that the csl had improved rev-matching for the down shifts. It is possible to upgrade to this if I remember correctly. Search m3cutters, sure I've seen stuff about it there.
