Hi all,
Just recently purchased an 87, E30 M3, euro spec. It has Koni springs and shocks but they are a little tired/soft.

The car has only done 52,000 miles so keen not to go too low/pimp.

I have heard that the OE shocks aren't all that and wanted to get some advice on which shocks to get?

I hear that Bilstien are pretty good.

Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated. Cheers.

Am using on the road by the way. Once in a blue moon, on the track maybe. Something comfortable but which improves handling a bit, stifens it up and gives less body roll.

Bilsteins are a popular choice.

Front: 34-003350

Rear: 24-060253 140 rebound/60 compression or 24-020275 160/55

Most go for the 160/55.

Bilstein also make some motorsport applications.

Gp N rally

Front: 34-046296 300/300

Rear: 24-000642 200/200

Tarmac Rally

Front: 34-236406 280/150

Rear: 24-233637 260/120

Thanks Mate.

I went to the Autordrome this weekend and met with a chap at one of the race teams and who used to race these and has a delership at the Nuburgring, (Black Falcon). He recommended the Bilstiens too, however said that those settings may be a little hard for the road and recommended the fully adjustable Bilstiens with like 9 settings or something. Any thoughts lads?

....and any idea where I can get these. Turners in the USA dont do them.

And on that note, is there anywhere in Europe where has the best selection, costs and service on parts? In short, what do you chaps use? I am in Dubai so aside from German Swedish (who I used years ago) not sure who to use these days.

Thanks

I would avoid group n spec for road use, makes the car very twitchy and doesn't sit well in the straight ahead position. A real handful in the wet as I found out..

I am using

Front: 34-003350

Rear: 24-020275 160/55

with H&R springs and it is fine on the road in the UK.

As for parts suppliers...

C3bmw.co.uk

http://www.motorsport24.de/motorsport-teile/ in Germany has lots of performance stuff.

I've just fitted brand new OE springs a shocks to my car. I'm happy how the car feels on them. It's quite soft but well damped and over rough roads the car feel very sure footed. Not sure they'd be stiff enough for track work, but iVe no intensional of taking her on track.

Possibly not what your considering but I fitted BC coilovers to my car, been on a year and I'm very happy with the quality and how it drives, adjustable for height, damping and come with adjustable top mounts, certainly not the most expensive kit going but I'd recommend them and deffo get another set.
