Anyone else heard this, brake wobble/disc over heating can be down to wheel refurb? according to someone who has a contact at BMW. Some customers have found just one wheel to be fading wobbling..and its down to the heat not being displaced through the wheel as well.....sounds odd to me..

In short, no I've personally never heard of this.

I have however seen cars with wheel wobble due to the recently refurbished wheel not sitting completely true against the hub caused by a build up of powder coat on the mating faces. Nothing a Dremel and some copper slip can't cure though.

It happened to mine a few years back and messed up a set of new disks which have now been replaced, build up on the back of the wheel on the mating face caused distortion of the disk when bolting up the wheel, a soft sander did the trick. When I had the wheels refurbed again recently I had the rear mating faces very lightly skimmed so they will mate up perfectly.

If the mating face of the wheel is painted during the refurb then this can happen. When refurbed the mating face of the wheel must be left bare metal.

Errr.. How so? The wheel is stripped to bare metal during the refurb process and then painted/powder coated in line with the original coating so I don't get it.
