Well yesterday was a very sad day, I parted ways with my lovely 46k miles '05 M5 when I traded it in...

...but the good news is I picked up a VO 1M, and I must say what a breath of fresh air it is, my initial impression are that it is a very exhilarating ride, and you don't feel it is going to try and kill you, bonus!

But a full review will be given after the PH run this weekend driving

So any other owners here? Guess I will be going down the evolve tuning route when I am 100% comfortable with it, so would be good to hear some reviews.

Looks great. There's a petrolhead near me just traded his E92 M3 in for an Orange 1M. I'm not jealous...

You will miss the V10,its noise, you may miss its toys, you wont miss the fuel bills(well not quite as much)but im sure you will enjoy your 1M even tho at some point it will

try to kill you, probably on a cold wet day when you think you have mastered it and quickly discover that you most certainly have not wink

Im two and a half years into my ownership and haven't visited Evolve...yet,but coming from 500bhp you may feel the need to visit them sooner, quite a few here have done.

The 1M isn't exactly slow with its turbo's and torque,in a straight line you may well miss your M5 but I think the bendy stuff will put a smile on your face, its agile and

responsive. On that note if it hasn't already (I doubt its on the original tyre still unless the previous owner did a like for like) put some Pilot Super Sports on,they will make

quite a difference especially in the wet and wear better than the PS2's

But yes it is a breath of fresh air,i enjoy driving it as much as my old CSL and GT3.

I look forward to your report after the weekend run smile

Great colour clap the only colour for a 1M imo. Not sure I would swap my M5 for a 1M but would be interested in your experiences!

A few on here have gone that route and tuned their 1Ms and are now back to standard. Say no more!!

Welcome to the 1M club. I went down the path of tuning and soon went back to standard. The car does not need the power, it overwhelms the chassis. In most real world driving situations I found that it does not give you any significant performance advantage that warrant the potential issues that could arise!

Welcome to the 1M club. Noise isn't the strongest point, certainly my old V8 sounded better as did the Z4M and M3 CS I used to own.... However, with all that low down torque, it always feels quick, and can get a little wayward if you're not fully concentrating ;-)

I love mine, for its' character, daft looks and rarity. Reasonably practical too. Great choice!

hmanuk,

Tell me more about the tune please. I am considering a remap and am now wondering why you went back to stock, over and above what you mentioned already.
Many guys swear by the likes of Evolve, DMS et al. What are the long term issues apart from longevity?

Also have you had any experience with the Akrapovic slip on and /or Evolution. If a remap is out of the question., maybe just an exhaust will satisfy my itch .

Welcome to the club.. How was the drive then?

Easy to burn up the 1M's clutch when remapped if not careful.. I find that often the remap overwhelms the limits of the chassis if you don't have a balanced right foot - particularly in sport mode..

Congrats, I saw my first 1M about a month and a half ago, Valencia Orange, on the laptop screen they look good, but in the flesh they look even better, its just 'right'.
