Ipod connection on 2005 M6 E63

Been looking for ipod connecter on 2005 M6 and cant for the life of me find it . Any ideas anyone also if not fitted can anyone tell me were to go and get one plumbed in , or has anyone had a after market kit fitted .?

The usb connection should be inside the cubby hole of the centre arm rest.

Hi Bruce,

I have done this successfully on my 2006 M5 model.
I do NOT know how easy it is on the 2005 M6.

So 2 questions….

Do you have the 3.5mm socket beneath the rear seat vent controls?
{AAARRGHH, just thought…M6, perhaps no rear vents….} anyway, read on...
Do you have the CD-Player option (S672A)?
If YES, then it should be relatively straightforward in as much as the wiring within the car will definitley support it all.
If NO, then I can't say yay or nay whether it'll all work….

Anyway, these should help you along the way…...

My 55 reg M6 has ipod, USB and 3.5mm input connectors fitted in the glove box by previous owner, probably aftermarket. So it can be done. I do not see the song names on the main screen and I have to disconnect USB and ipod every time when I leave the car because it drains the battery.

I had my 2006 M5 converted from CD changer to iPod using the official BMW kit. It was a bit clunky, in that it used CDs 1-6 as different playlists, by album, artist, genre etc, but it worked and showed track information. The lead was in the glovebox.

Older ipods have a different supply current requirement to newer ones so you might need to check amazon or ebay for the correct convertor. Get the right one and it should charge fine. Might also sort the track selection issue.

for your model a Dension of Mobridge might make the most sense.

I have the standard oem ipod kit in mine and while it's ok, it has limitations (255 tracks) and is slow scrolling etc.

I did an aux retrofit to the middle storage box. You can feed the wires from the radio past the handbrake without to much hassle. You can also pick up 12v from under the middle storage box. I did this to put in a 12v-5v usb adaptor and then fitted a bluetooth audio module and plugged into the newly fitted aux socket. I then bought another cup holder and fitted a phone holder to it.

I now use bluetooth audio on the phone and set the aux input on.

If you do aux you will need to code it. If you can use NCSExpert then it takes about 10 mins to code.
