Destroyed M135i turbo after 5 Months...
Discussion
Seems the N55 engine isn't immune to problems. I took the M135i for a European trip a couple of weeks ago and the car failed just after I entered Switzerland. It's 3 months old (with 4k miles at the time) and the problem turned out to be a failed injector.
To be fair, they're just machines so components will fail. This is as much a story of how good BMW were in handling an awkward situation - I was on day one of a week-long road trip and they sorted out a decent rental car whilst mine was with the Swiss dealer. When it was fixed, I was in Vienna with my next destination Munich....meaning going back to Switzerland was a full-day detour for me. After a little pushing by my local dealer, BMW paid to have the car delivered to Munich and the Swiss rental car returned. Things can and do go wrong; how BMW handled it in this instance was outstanding.

I wouldn't make a decision on whether to buy a car or not on the basis of this.....they're just mere machines and some will go wrong. I posted my story as an example of how well the manufacturer, in this case, not only sorted the issue but kept my inconvenience to a minimum. I'm very fickle when it comes to cars and have little brand loyalty but this 'problem' actually endeared me more to BMW!
