Looking for an E60 M5 - Anyone know this car
Discussion
Hello all,
I have been looking about for an E60 M5 for a while without much luck. Lot's of higher mileage cars or badly cared for examples sadly.
I have seen the below car come up a few times now and was wondering if anyone knew of it at all?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-BMW-M5-SMG-1-OWNER-...
One owner car. However, it has never had the clutch done or new brake discs which means 4k of risk right there and I believe the brakes need doing at least. I would also be sitting on a time bomb with the clutch.
Anyway, before I scrubbed off another one from the list I wanted to see if it was a known car.
thanks

The only saving grace, if you can get past the bloody awful ALL CAPS advert with dreadful formatting, is that there's the option to add a year to the existing warranty at buyer's expense so at least worst case options may be covered, assuming it's a BMW warranty or at least comparable.
But for me the chav-tastic wheels and tuning shopping list would completely put me off as well - the car could be fine of course. If it's local and you've got someone who knows the cars well who can assess it for you it might even be worth paying someone to do that if it looks good in the metal but you want some reassurance.

As the owner isn't paying for it that's another grand on the price to consider. BMW Mondial or Warranty Direct. Plus it won't cover the brakes and the clutch would be a battle to cover too.But for me the chav-tastic wheels and tuning shopping list would completely put me off as well - the car could be fine of course. I would hang on for a better example.
Mine had a clutch, flywheel,Smg pump at 39k so you might have the expense of a clutch on that one in the near future. Try and find one that's had the clutch & fly already.
I bought mine in October 2013 and trying to find one below 60k with nice spec & BMW warranty plus new clutch etc was very hard. Nice ones don't come up that often.

General rule is to never buy a car that's been lowered, not to mention those pretty horrific looking alloys and decals. I'd say it's about £2k overpriced.
You'd be better off looking for something around 50-60k miles with the clutch/flywheel/clutch release bearing replaced as it's not certain to be able to get those done under warranty. Also when you add on the cost of a warranty an AUC car becomes a lot more attractive (if you can find them).

When I bought mine it had 5 months AUC left to run which ran out last month so I opted for the full package from Mondial which is costing me £102 a month which is a lot considering I've only covered 800 miles since buying it in October. Having it covered by a proper warranty does stop the worrying about it going wrong or breaking down though.
