My M5 went in for its 1,200 mile service today and up until now I've not used more than half-throttle.

On the journey home I finally floored it. Bloody hell!! biggrin

Wheel spin in 3rd gear is a new experience...

Even with winter tyres I did some testing a month or so ago on a private road and the traction control light was still flashing at warp factor gazzilion.

In anything other than bone dry you have to feather the throttle and even in dry weather it's struggling not to spin the wheels in most gears up to 5th.

Amazing, bloody amazing.

I still recall the first time I drove my M635CSi after many years of the single cam M30 engined 635CSi; the difference then and now is night and day - that 24v straight six is still wonderfully sonorous and addictive and now the car has had a full glass out refit and respray it looks as good as it's always sounded.

I bought mine from knights BMW on a promotional weekend where they had a high profile security/ bodyguard getaway type drivers, he drove the car first and scared the st out of me and the father in law, then he swapped seats and I floored it and made a right tit out of myself ,I went down the box instead of up

I think the first time I got the opportunity to drive (well ride) something truly fast I was left thinking I'm going to have to be very careful with my licence.

Good luck with yours. smile

Yep Watch your licence now, 100MPH comes in a few seconds. These are mental quick.
