June 2003 seems to be final sale date for M5s - but with a struggle i have only found one 52 reg.nerd
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221132846503?nma=true&am...
E39s in general are rare on 03 reg but i have seen upto 54 reg on those.
So does anyone know/seen /own a 52/03 reg M5?

Yep, first registered 11 March 2003.

There were only 21 right hand drive E39 M5's built in 2003 and shipped to the UK, some of those will be 52 plate.

An ex colleague of mine who has since emigrated to the US had a E39 M5 that was registered February 9th 2004!

Estoril Blue with full individual red leather and just about every extra you could think of. Now in storage with the rest of collection.

I have seen it once and was stunning!

He had and still does have connections within BMW. Amongst others currently owns a very individual M6.

The car above is mine, I'm on line!

The 4th last one made was broken at Quarry motors recently, quite a big smash, Carbon Black with red inserts on the seats.

The last RHD car was built on 28 June 2003.

Sometimes cars can sit a long time before being registered. The last Estoril Blue RHD car made was built on 24th October 2002, and that had a black interior.

Coincidently I have a conference call with the owner planned for next week.
I will see if I can get photos and details.
He is very private, no forums etc.

His E39 M5 was built in December 03 to special order via BMW contacts?

December '03 is 6 months after any E39 M5 I know of was built. I'd love to know the last 7 digits of the VIN.

As others have said, unsold unregistered cars can sit for ages. I once looked at an A reg (1984/5) Triumph Stag that was actually built in 1978 !

Mine is positively ancient on an 02, March 02 build May registration if memory serves.

There is something very satisfying about having a very late model though... I know its a very different kettle of fish but I have one of the last registered Astravans, 30th June 2013. They stopped building them in the January I believe!
