M5 f10 and hills starts
Discussion
Normally when on a hill I apply the brake and notice that the car will hold itself for a few seconds allowing you to apply the throttle, if you don`t do this within a few seconds it will roll back (unlike a normal auto), which isn`t a problem, just more like a manual.
However I noticed today for the first time that if you come to a stand still slowly and don`t apply the brake the car will come to a standstill and hold itself on the throttle without moving forward or backwards. Anybody else noticed/do this?

I've noticed that when I was trying to park on an incline last week it's bloody difficult to do as the car doesn't creep and moving 12" towards a brick wall can be a challenge when you don't want to head butt it!
I would have left it but it's a big car and was poking quite some distance out of the back of the parking bay.
Managed it in the end but in my old X5, 335i or whatever it would have been a whole lot easier

How do you come to a standstill without applying the brakes, as mine just keeps on creeping until you physically stop it with the brakes? Or does the incline bring it to a stop? I'll have to try.
HoHoHo....as previous poster mentioned, a gentle tap of the accelerator does put it into creep mode which is slow enough for me to squeeze it right up to the wall in my garage.

The car creeps until you stop fully then it stays still.HoHoHo....as previous poster mentioned, a gentle tap of the accelerator does put it into creep mode which is slow enough for me to squeeze it right up to the wall in my garage.
The degree of incline makes a big difference to creeping and much more than 15 degrees or so and it's too heavy to do so (in my experience). I agree on a level car park etc. it will creep nicely.
