Drivetrain Failure Resolution!!
Discussion
Took my new M5 across to Bowker BMW today to see if they could sort out BMW Remote/Connected Drive as it's still registered to my rejected M5. Appears i need to wait for a text from BMW with a new login (guess i'll have to chase that up today?
Anyhow i digress, whilst there i asked the Service Manager if they ever did get a diagnosis on my failed F10 M5 & what if anything they found/fixed. I was told the fault (although they can't be 100% sure) was small shard/s of metal in the fuel rail & this/these were under load being forced into the outlet & thus blocking fuel flow to that particular injector & cylinder. These would have been present during manufacture, but would naturally only cause issue when becoming dislodged & blocking an outlet so the fault would therefore come & go but only be present under load as that would force said shard from it's hiding place & into an outlet, when backing off the throttle it would then return to the fuel rail & await its next visit (in my case 3 months apart).
Now this was diagnosed as the 'likely' fault by BMW in Germany as they'd become aware of a couple of cars suffering this fault & this was the recommended fix so the car has had the fuel rails replaced as well as Injector 1 replaced again. No way of knowing if this is 100% correct as the car will go back to BMW now but it does sound plausible.
Fingers crossed BMW have made the required changes to production & this if correct won't be able to affect my new car

However that's 3 globally so hardly a huge issue.
