Are These New Features & Question??
Discussion
Both these features i'd never spotted on my previous 2014 M5 so i'm wondering if BMW have released a Software Update in the last few months that my brand new car is benefitting from? I also feel the general drive on this new car is smoother, more responsive & just feels more composed that the one i rejected. This of course could all be in my head.
Question is (i know it's an OCD thing), in my outgoing M5 when i was on the sat nav map & i had info displayed in the top right (mobile signal & entertainment etc.) whilst on USB Media it displayed a USB icon & the track number next to it? In my new car it still displays the USB symbol but now no track number, have i gone mad or have i missed a setting?

Change up indicator?
No, it wouldn't have been on your previous version.
There does appear to have been a reasonably big iDrive update - mine got it when I had the M Drivers Pack installed and it now shows the same things that you're seeing in your new car.
Any other new features worth knowing about? No, it wouldn't have been on your previous version.

Also, any idea if the track number that used to be displayed on the map screen next to the USB symbol has been removed?
A few icon changes down the left hand side and the display you've posted up but the most useful change (given I use this feature a lot) is when you use voice control to input addresses or POI's - it no longer requires you to confirm you're paying attention by hitting ok on the controller before continuing to tell it where to go!

Never used voice for anything other than making a phone call. May have to try that. For Nav i use the touchpad input in the main, can't say i even noticed a voice option. I really should RTFM;)W8PMC said:

Being a lowly M6 driver, I don't have the touchpad. But I do in our M135i and I find it useless - it's quicker to turn the knob than physically write anything. Voice control is the way forward for nav input - works a treat, especially on POI's as it uses google search for that. Try pushing your voice control button, saying "points of interest" then any reasonable destination and see what you think!

I wonder if these additions are simply a software upgrade or only available on a new car?
I'd assume a Software Upgrade but no idea if a Dealer will allow the upgrade FOC or even alongside a service.I recall on my E60 M5, BMW were forever issuing Software Updates & more often than now it was a simple plug & play but i don't know if this is the case in the F10.
Something else i spotted yesterday was an electronic copy of my Service Book within the Service area of iDrive. Didn't notice this on my previous car.
Also spotted within BMW Online, a whole host of Apps such as Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud, Hotels, Parking, Cash Machines, Wiki, Yelp & a few others. Again i'd not spotted these in my previous M5.

Electronic service history is new for MY15 builds. Definitely 5/6ers and possibly the whole range?
Niiice, so i've got a MY15 car this time? Would not have expected them to start building until Q3 2014.Are the Apps within BMW Online new for MY15 as well as the gear shift indicator & status info updates? Anything else changed for MY15 M5's?
