There are probably only about 50 left on the road in regular use, and probably 30-40 more tucked away in storage or SORNed (according to the last time I looked at "how many left") so they're pretty rare.
It's worth giving the usual traders (4star, Munich Legends, Classic Heroes) a call and asking them to look out for one for you.
I bought mine from - and then sold it through - 4star, who also had a couple of others in at the time, so they do turn up.
ETA... just to add a bit of temptation to the thread, here's a couple of quick snaps of mine from its Evo session

Most have done over 100k miles. A Condition 1 car at that sort of mileage is now £25k. Mine was very good but leggier (170k miles) and sold for just under £19k.
Cheaper cars, needing work, seem to come and go from £10k upwards depending on the levels of rot.
The Munich Legends car, with 40k miles on the clock, is (I understand) £55k.

A discerning choice Olf.
I believe PH'er Output Flange was intending to sell his after it comes back from being re sprayed - might well be worth making contact with him.
I've just spent a chunk of cash on mine with Barney at Classic Heroes - well worth contacting him to see if he can source one. He has one in his collection but has turned down several offers for it.
Here's a few pics of mine to help whet your appetite:

Was at Munich Legends only yesterday afternoon where I saw a white E28 they had 'prepped' for a private customer.
Unbelievable condition, fabulous.
They had another in the showroom (grey I think), sold!
And again, fabulous nick.
Then I saw this, also in their showroom….

It looked like new, with paintwork like glass.
The interior staggering and under the bonnet….well, better than new.
As for the price?
Only you will know about that……I don't know enough to comment.
Good luck, they do look such beautiful cars…...

I had one back in the mid 90's and it was an absolute blast. The engine has to be one of BMW's finest and transforms the car, over the lesser M535 variant. That said, an M535 is still a nice car and probably easier to source.
I know power isn't huge, by modern standards, but with relatively light weight and an engine that loves to rev, they're terrific fun to drive.
