F10 M5 - NO TYRES FOR 8 WEEKS!
Discussion
295/30/ZR20 101Y MICHELIN PILOT SUPERSPORTS
Michelin apparently have a backlog of 52 orders and there is an 8 week lead time with no stock in the UK.
I need my car and can't be without it for a day nevermind 2 months.
There is no alternative to these that would be approved by BMW or my insurance company.

I've got Pirelli on mine so surely you have a choice?
I know it's not idea to have two makes on the car but they're not on the same axel, alternatively buy 4 new and sell the old fronts on eBay?
Thanks HohohoI know it's not idea to have two makes on the car but they're not on the same axel, alternatively buy 4 new and sell the old fronts on eBay?
The front probably need replacing soon anyway. What type of Pirelli did you go for and did you have to get the OK from your insurance company?
I've ordered from these guys, they were good value and arrived quickly.

They were on the car from new and to be honest didn't even think about mentioning tyre make to my insurers.

I can't use Pirelli as they aren't BMW approved. They were on the car from new and to be honest didn't even think about mentioning tyre make to my insurers.
BMW dealer can now get some in 7 days. BMW UK will provide a hire car during this time. However tyres seem expensive at £400 each including VAT and including fitting

Thanks but imagine their lead time is long as there is no stock in the UK and BMW have located mine in Germany which will take 7 days to get to me. I'm paying a premium for this at £400 inc fitted & VAThttp://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/car-tyres/mich...

As HoHoHo said BMW fit Pirellis to the M5 when they have no Michelin stock so they are approved.BMW dealer can now get some in 7 days. BMW UK will provide a hire car during this time. However tyres seem expensive at £400 each including VAT and including fitting

That simply can't be true and I think you've been misinformed - I had a brand new M5 courtesy car a couple of weeks ago (less than 700 miles on the clock) and it had Pirelli P-Zero's fitted all round. The shortage of tyres probably explains why this brand new M5 had Pirelli's from the factory and therefore means the tyre must be approved.

Phoned the dealer I got it from and they said yes Pirelli's are an option as there is a new one they have with them on. However there is also a shortage of these. Apparently its a very unpopular size. Given up as I can't spend anymore time on this. BMW can't force you to use * tyres anyway.

Thanks Jon .. just ordered with them and should get them Friday. Why have I wasted so much time today with Protyre and BMW! Plus saved £250. Also, UK stock:

I have to be honest though, i'm no expert on tyre performance but i'd be mighty pissed off if my £75k M5 was delivered with P-Zero's rather than MPSS. I'm sure the Pirelli tyre is good but the MPSS's are truly epic & having hooned around Anglesey Circuit on Monday in mine, they're by far the best tyre i've experienced on any car.
