Just wondering what F10 M5 owners use most often in the way of the Suspension setting and also manual/auto ?

I am still very much in the getting to know phase with my M5 but am finding that with the Suspension on 'sport plus' the car is a lot tauter with less chassis wobble/instability. I a generally like a very firm and connected car so think that I may well end up using sport+ more than the other two settings.

Also, I find that using the paddles or stick and driving the car manually (even around town) makes it so much more interesting and entertaining. The auto is SO good that it almost seems a bit ridiculous to start shifting by yourself but it does seem to pay off handsomely once you can be bothered.

Anyone else ? What sort of settings are you using for what percentage of the time ?

When in town everything is set to Efficient/Comfort. I prefer to pull off in 2nd gear, as 1st can be quite jumpy.

Once I'm out of town I select 'M1' which I have set to Sport suspension and throttle, but steering remains in Comfort mode. Gearbox is in auto.

M2 is Sport Plus on everything, but for steering (still Comfort), and I have the HUD displaying the rev counter. Gearbox is in auto, but I switch to manual 99% of the time.

How much time do you use the car in manual vs. auto ?

I agree about pulling away in 1st. The creep is a bit odd as well.

Mostly in M1 or M2 and they are set as follows:

Both with M Hud

M1 has soft steering, sport suspension and sport + throttle (or whatever it is)

M2 is full on everything but with all aids firmly on!

I tend to get into M1 as quickly as I can and drive with that setting unless I want to press on a bit. However around London full auto soft everything is a good place to be.

Comfort and efficient on for standard with auto.

M1 is sports plus all round and manual with HUD.

M2 is sports plus all round and manual with HUD - and traction control off. Takes two presses to confirm. Different animal. And only really possible in the dry so will change the settings in the next week or so.

+1

Only difference is I keep auto on...then grab a paddle when I want manual.

Sport+ on everything except steering; M Hud and paddle shift; traction control off. If the wife is in the car, then everything is on pussy mode.

Comfort mode is excellent for everyday duties, with paddles being used when I can make progress.

M1 is set up in sport, with M2 in sport plus and MDM and M display in HUD.

M2 is occasionally adjusted, with comfort EDC being selected for uneven surfaces where things can get choppy....often lighten the steering too.

The brutal settings with DSC off make the car an absolute animal, so great care is advised....the torque easily overwhelms the rears and it can step out suddenly,,,,,watch out for hard acceleration in a straight line with camber involved!!

Most of the time (my usual drives are 250 schleps down the M6/A14) i'm in Auto with everything set to Comfy.

Can't recall which way round i have the Presets but 1 is Sport Plus for everything & Auto set to level 3, the other is again Sport Plus on everything, Manual 3, MDM & HUD in M Mode.

When i'm playing i just hit the preset with the Auto 3 setting but when on track it's the one with MDM preset.

Live in London so my use is generally dictated by my surroundings.

95% Auto
Sports Plus always on smile
The rest left on stock settings

You have the throttle and suspension set to Sport Plus while driving in the city? Why?

The throttle is a lot more sensitive in +, I would argue too sensitive for sitting in traffic.

I could be wrong but with the engine in s and s+ the car is louder but i think its only because the engine speaker sounds are activated ?

I know theres a flap on two of the pipes but according to another forum this seems to always be open after warm up, regardless of the engine drving mode.
