Just wondered if you have sold your BMW because of the issues, have repaired the subframe...

I have owned three E36 M3's and not replaced the subframe in any.

I have also owned a E46 330i Sport/E39 528i Sport/E39 523i and none have had subframe repairs.

E46 M3. No cracks, but I'm of the opinion it is a given that it'll happen sometime so I fitted a set of Redish reincorcement plates.

2005 M3 - no cracks and no signs of it. Resin reinforced both sides for prevention and to hopefully prevent the need for any welding in the future.

What's the expected cost of repair/strengthening? Mine's an 04 plate...

my E46 was fixed by BMW in mid 2010 and still ok. It gets some serious use and has now covered 45k miles since the new boot floor was put in.

That's good.
My concern is how long the fix lasts...

Mine is OK at the moment. It's a worry, but my E46 has quite an easy life. But it is a worry.
