Had the Z4MC a few weeks now but finally got a nice enough day to give it a clean. Roads have been manky up here, still squirming on the dry salted roads in 4th biggrin

Fantastic to drive and engine feels quite different from my E46 M3 with better cold running, much more torque lower down (less weight to pull maybe). Have to wait till it warms up to test the top of the rev range but feels even stronger.

Lovely

But I don't think the Z4M is materially lighter than the M3.

E46 M3 Curb Weight = 1549kg

Z4M Coupe = 1465kg

Not a huge difference but with the Z4M's more agressive gearing it would attribute with greater feeling of urgency from the Z4M.

Z4M also got a more modern ECU with a faster processing speed so I can only assume that this may allow for a sharper throttle response. Or it could just improve mpg. lol

Not sure the advanced ECU did much beyond making it more difficult to tweak/mod.

I believe it is the same ECU as for the S65/s85

I just remember reading it on the BMW M Reg site

"Advanced BMW/Siemens MSS70 engine management (64 million calculations/second, versus 25 million/second in the E46 M3)"
