I have a 1996 E36 M3 EVO! My car recently after I engage
the clutch, will remain at 1000 rpm idle speed for a few seconds, and then slowly fell to 800 rpm! When the air conditioning is turned on, even more than the 1000 rpm idle speed, then fell to 800 rpm! I just changed the ICV, around vacuum also changed to new ones, but still no solution!
And when rpm rise up, I step on the gas gently, the rpm dropped to 800.
Please help me to find out what’s wrong with it...

My guess would be a vacuum leak. There is an intricate network of hosing, valves and bungs all of which can split / degrade causing high/ fluctuating idle. You'll find the hosing under the inlet manifold / intake trumpets. Check also the MAF hosing / connecting to ensure its all tight and again there are no splits. You can clean the MAF sensor but it's very easy to damage it so be careful. If you can try a spare that would be best.

You could also get the car checked for anyone codes that may give you a point in the right direction.

Thank you very much for answering the question! I did change the vacuum horse near ICV to new one... Well...I’ll check again, and find a solution..
