Looking at a AUC M3, starting the armwrestling process over the deal and I've just been told that BMW changedd things and dealers can no longer offer 2 year warranties?

Does anyone have any recent experience of this? He said that it changed middle/end of last year.

I guess I'm trying to find out if its truth or salesman's bluster...

having tired of my X3 30D, I am on the hunt for something interesting and after dismissing Audi RS5 and C63, I have narrowed it down to the following:

A 2011 E92 M3 DCT with EDC and with every single option ticked, including quite a few Individual ones (Ruby black metallic, extended rust brown leather and Individual High End Audio) as well as the Competition and M drivers package, with 40.000 km, sold from BMW with 2 years warranty and an extra set of 18" winter wheels, for 40.000 euro.
From another thread, started on Thursday.

It seems a bit off if BMW seem to be offering it elsewhere in Europe?

I think it varies from country to country. In Germany the AUC (Premium Selection) is 1 year too, Belgium fortunately 2 years, and even doing a 4 years warranty campaign once a year (on non-M models).

I would claim it´s a scam?!
I know that the manufacturers warranty is given for 2 year. No matter if it is used or already has 20 previous owner! And if your dealer is a reliable one he should know that!

I hope you didn't mind me quoting you rassi.

I wonder what their reasoning is for the inconsistency? Seems odd to me.

Tell them you'll leave a deposit over the phone if they give a 2 year warranty. I did that and they gave in after 30 mins and called me back.

Yes, very inconsistent but I suppose it is also linked to who the underwriter is? E.g. In the UK it appears that it is Mondial, and that the warranty can be extended after the original AUC warranty expires, which is (very unfortunately) not the case in e.g. Belgium.

I was told the same when I got mine........ Later a chap on here got his M5 with the extra year from the same dealer and I was mightily unimpressed......

I'm a huge BMW fanboi, but they don't seem to be doing themselves many favours these days (at dealership level anyway).

Load of nonsense. My local dealership JKC BMW put 2 years AUC warranty on all their cars.

I had to negotiate for the 2nd years waranty when I bought my Z4M from Llyods of Newcastle.

It must depend on the dealership.

I've just been offered a second year AUC warranty on an X5. £750 is what I'm being quoted at the moment.

You should be able to negotiate it for nothing. Just be firm with them. Plenty more cars out there. These cars are at the high end scale of BMWs. They do not fly off the shelves.

Do what I did.

I told the dealer I'll leave a deposit over the phone on the spot if they give me a 2 year warranty. I didnt try and knock them down on the price etc...to me the warranty was the golden ticket.

They moaned and groaned about their margins. I then said "you have my number, call me. I'll leave a deposit as soon as you confirm the 2 year warranty"

30 mins later I got the call.

I bought my Z4M in Lloyds in Feb 2014.

Maybe JKC do this off thier own bat as a goodwill jesture or as a sign in thier confidence that you are buying a good car.

At the end of the day all they are giving/buying you is one years insurance to cover any breakdowns/failures.

The BMW warranty costs roughly £1000/year. Get them to give it to you or discount the car accordingly. As said above theres plenty of other cars out there for you to choose from.

In my case I'm being told the cost to the dealer for a second year AUC warranty is £750. The price of the vehicle is definitely up for negotiation but I take your point Schermerhorn, the warranty could be worth more to me in real terms than a straight discount on the vehicle price.

Definitely possible they don't like doing it as they get it a lot cheaper than what you would normally purchase it for I think it was £500/£550 cost to them for a Z4M vs nearer £1k for a private person.

I managed to get mine in with the price as have many others smile
