I have recently bought an F11 535d m sport touring. The original thinking was that we would sell our E70 X5. However, the wife has ruled that out, wants to sit high up etc etc.

This presents me with an interesting choice. Keep the 535 as my daily or go for something that i'd enjoy more. I started out looking for an F11 550i touring but its almost non existent.

I note that quite a few M5s on the AUC site have the split folding rear seats. Could anyone who has these tell me if a road bicycle would fit in the car with seats down? Assuming they do, I'm on the look out for an F10 M5. Any buying advice would be appreciated - minded to go with AUC for least hassle and peace of mind.

Cheers

Yes you'll fit a bike with the seats fold down, might have to take the front wheel off but very doable.

I don't have the folding seats but can still fit my bike in the boot by taking both wheels off.

What he said. I can fit my Cannonade Road Bike in the boot with both wheels off. Mine's a 56cm frame. Thule do a great roof bar/cycle carrier setup which i'll be using once the weather improves as de-wheeling the bike's a PITA.

With folding seats i'd expect pretty much any bike could be loaded with care & with wheels on.

Am in exactly the same position as the OP, trading in my 18 month old F11 535d for an F10 M5. I had to order a new one because I wanted split folding seats. There was a Monte Carlo blue car with competition pack at BMW UK which had folding seats but it was nearly £90k and I couldn't justify it.

I've gone for the folding tow bar so I can use my existing tow bar mounted thule bike rack for the mountain bikes. Saves getting the interior muddy.

Used to fit three mountain bikes (plus foam padding) into the boot of my 1 series. Used to remove the front wheels and load the bikes in. No problems.

The M5 is a bigger boot - i don't have folding seats. Man logic failure. Now have to use the missus 1 series.

Bikes were all 56cm's.
