Hi chaps, can people post what they have paid for first proper service? At circa 16k miles.

Just got quoted £550 by Tunbridge Wells discounted to £500 but still seems excessive for an oil and filter change, my e90 M3 only cost £370.

Cheers.

P.s If you are in London/Kent could you post where you got it serviced? smile

One way to reduce the cost is to provide your own oil as they charge quite a bit for it, not done my 16k service but the running in cost £300 (I didn't provide my own oil but next time I will)

Do they still take 10w60?

Play them against each other. I got quoted £220 for an oil service for my M6 by Sandal Wakefield. Highest was £476 from Stockport BMW.

Paid £399 at Halliwell Jones Wilmslow at 13,000 miles. The price seemed to vary considerably each time I asked. I think they make it up as they go along!

It's the variation that drives me crazy!

And the fact that they can't just quote you, no they have to call you back 30mins later!

As happened today they actually quoted £420 so I said is that your best price? To which they said we'll call you back, they then called back and said we forgot to add something so it'll actually be £550!

They are probably trying to add the microfilter on that too like they tried to do with me. I told them I will only pay £220 as I only want doing what I was quoted for. If they tried adding extra on, I would consider it goodwill from them and would not pay for it.

The problem is that they have been trained to pull your pants off and speak to you like you are a clueless customer. Stand firm and watch them squirm on the spot trying to make up excuses.

Good pricesmile What mileage was your 1st service required?

Did they performa a software update as i'm told one's available that provides the 'Sport Display' on LCi cars.

Do you know which update this is, The dealer is having my car all day on Friday as they agreed to do a full software update, after I found out the car wasn't quite as new as they'd told me, I requested the sport dials (if possible)

It might be a firmware update?

I believe it's in the Vehicle Settings area somewhere. Some detail here:

Would be interesting if you could check as the guys on bimmerpost are reporting the US dealers are saying it can't be done.

(I ask as I'm having mine updated on Friday, (would be in the vehicle information not settings)

Nope, nothing there but I'm not convinced they updated the software to be honest as they only had the car for a day.

I think it's not possible for some reason as the yanks on bimmerpost are pretty good at getting the updates on.

Cars in the UK have this too & i believe it was introduced on late MY15's & now on MY16's. Is a feature across the F10 range & not just on M5's.

Agreed, but my point was around that they have tried to update LCI cars over there and the dials don't show.

It appears that if it hasn't got them (15MY onwards) you can't upgrade to get them.

My M6 was updated to the latest software last week, the Sport Display option is not there. I know the software has been updated as I now get a message in the cluster when the wheel heater is turned on. It's possible that the Sport Display needs to be enabled via coding, but just updating the software does not add it.
